Everyone loves browsing homes on online listing sites. Sites like Zillow, Trulia and others are full of beautiful photos of beautiful homes. And while it may be fun to look at home décor (often staged) and fantasize about moving to a new place (though you may not know the pros and cons of a particular neighborhood), it’s important to keep these three things in mind:

Not all sites are up to date. Often, home buyers will fall in love with a property they have found on a property search site, only to discover that it has been sold or taken off the market. Save yourself some time and disappointment by searching SABOR.com and realtor.com – or, better yet, let me do the searching for you.

Only certified Realtors (like all of us at Nix Realty Company) have the most up-to-date information regarding listing information. If you do search online and find a home that you’re interested in, I can give you more information about the property, as well as give you an insight into the area in which it is located.

Listing photos aren’t the same as seeing a home in person. Just because you love a home’s pictures doesn’t mean you will love it in real life. It’s important to remember that listing photos are taken to showcase the positive features of a home and may not show some of the issues a home may have.

While online home shopping can be a great resource to narrow down the type of home and area you are interested in, there’s no substitute for working with a Realtor – like me!
