It’s fairly easy to govern in good times. It’s when times get tough that true leadership emerges. And that’s exactly what we have here in San Antonio. Long before Coronavirus hit our city, Mayor Ron Nirenberg and his team already had a plan in place, and they’ve executed it flawlessly. The Mayor put forth the shelter at home request early on, and he continues to keep us updated on the virus and how our efforts to curb it are succeeding.
A Trinity University graduate, Mayor Nirenberg has focused on the challenges of significant growth being experienced in San Antonio, including transportation reform, housing, crime and public safety, social justice, the environment, and economic development. In other words, he’s in favor of all the right things. He has been Mayor of San Antonio since 2017. San Antonio is the seventh largest city in the United States.
Prior to being elected Mayor, he served two terms as District 8 councilman.
Experienced in business and policy, Mayor Nirenberg is a former program director for the Annenberg Public Policy Center, where he developed award-winning civic engagement programs in cities across the United States, including San Antonio. He was also General Manager of Trinity University’s KRTU-FM and the founder of two small businesses.
In honor of our city’s 300th Anniversary, I’m making Mayor Ron Nirenberg No. 56 in my 300 Reasons to Love San Antonio list. Another great reason to live, work, invest in real estate and appreciate the leadership that makes San Antonio so special. Plus, today’s his birthday. Happy Birthday, Mayor!
